CAN Structures was contracted to install a supplementary sprinkler system to 19,600sqm of ceiling above an operational automated retrieval system (ASR), or smart warehouse.
Utilising a combination of industrial rope access techniques, MEWPs and our modular working platform, CANSpan, CAN Technicians installed 992 no. of 8m long, 50mm diameter sprinkler ranges suspended up to 15m below the ceiling on drop rods.
The project was completed in two phases, the first being the installation of 2 no. of crane rails which acted as a delivery system for the ranges, drop rods and rafter mounting support brackets. The second phase being the installation of the supplementary sprinkler system.
Warehouse operations continued to function during the entirety of the works with no disruption to the ASR.
